Amelia Lindsjö

My name is Amelia Lindsjö and I live in Stockholm, Sweden. I’m one of the few very lucky persons that has the advantages of being able to work with my greatest interest – computers. I have a great interest in Linux- and UNIX systems and it’s within this field I have most of my knowledge and experience. Since I’m very interested in systems administration I’ve found myself interested in the history of computers, mainly those used for server purposes and not PC’s. Digital Equipment will always have a special place in my heart and the star of my collection is a PDP-11 from 1979.

I’m currently working as Systems Administrator at LensWay. I work mainly with Linux servers and applications running on them such as Apache HTTPd and Tomcat, MySQL, Opsview, Bind, Postfix and I’m slowly getting into network administration as well.

In April 2008 I joined Data3 – a COMMON User Group. Data3 as other COMMON User Groups are a professional organization for people and organizations working with IBM AS/400 and PowerSystems. I’ve been writing a couple of articles about Linux for their member paper since Linux is a growing operating system on the platform. In November 2008 I was elected a board member of Data3 but resigned in November 2009 since I’m not working with the systems and felt that someone who does would better fill my place on the board.

In May 2007 I was elected chairman in Svenska Linuxföreningen (The Linux Society of Sweden) which is a non-profit organization working with promotion of Linux and free software. I held the position for a year until the annual meeting in May 2008 when I decided it was time for me to resign and focus on my daily work.

In February 2007 I published a textbook, Fritis – Datorkunskap A (DAA1201), for a course in basic computer knowledge at upper secondary school in Sweden. The textbook teaches basic computer knowledge, internet common sense and useful desktop applications like OpenOffice, Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird.
